***ARRESTED***
The Ridley Township Police Department announce the arrest of Shawn WILLIAMS B/M/39 of the Sun Village section of Chester in the homicide of Sameer Abdullah. Abdullah, a store employee of Empire Smoke and Phone Store at 1418 Chester Pike, Crum Lynne, was shot and killed by Williams inside the business on Friday afternoon, 12/17/2021, while working at the store. Abdullah was shot multiple times with a revolver in the upper body at close range resulting in his death. The motive for the shooting is undetermined at this time. It was not a robbery. By all accounts, Abdullah was hard working and well respected. This is a tragic and senseless loss of life.
The Ridley Township Detective Division, Patrol Officers, along with members of the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division worked relentlessly and tirelessly following investigative and public leads resulting in two search warrants being obtained and evidence being collected linking Williams to the crime. Williams was interviewed, advised of his Constitutional Rights and subsequently confessed to Abdullah’s murder.
The Ridley Township Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in providing and sharing information resulting in tips leading to the quick arrest of this dangerous individual.
Williams will be arraigned on homicide charges later this morning.
The lead investigators on the case were Detective Marc McKinney Ridley Township PD and Detective Vincent Ficchi Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division.
