The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin next week on a $420,000 project to improve travel and safety through the Route 420 (Kedron Avenue) intersection with Franklin Avenue in Ridley Township.
Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT’s contractor will improve the turning radius for vehicles traveling from Franklin Avenue onto northbound Route 420 (Kedron Avenue); replace sidewalk and ADA curb ramps; install new pavement markings, signing, stop bars and crosswalks; and replace outdated signal equipment including traffic signals, pedestrian signals, and lighting at the intersection.
Beginning Monday, May 8, through Friday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Route 420 (Kedron Avenue) at the intersection with Franklin Avenue for utility and initial construction activities.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Armour & Sons Electric of Langhorne, PA, is the general contractor on the project, which is scheduled to be completed this summer.
